Ancient Roots.
Modern Mission.
A church for wanderers and worshipers, skeptics and saints. Gathering in Carlsbad’s North County to pray, learn, eat, and go back out.
Join us at 12:00pm on Sundays at the New Song campus
Our Story
Born out of a holy restlessness.
After decades of planting churches around the world through the NewBreed network, Peyton & Andrea Jones felt God calling them to San Diego. Beau & Mary Moffatt — who’ve served North County churches for years — share the same burden.
We’re part of the Free Methodist Church, connected to the Rize Network. We’re wired for multiplication, not maintenance.
Our story is still being written; you’re invited to write it with us.
Why “The Abbey”?
“The early abbeys were communities of worship, refuge, creativity, and mission — cultivating soul and soil to serve those inside and outside their walls.”
That’s what we want to be: a spiritual community that prays deeply, thinks deeply, and serves deeply in a world that’s starving for depth.
Our Vision
Know Jesus deeply.
Make Him known widely.
We see The Abbey as a sending center — a hub for disciple-makers, planters, artists, and everyday people who want to bring heaven into their ordinary lives.
Confessional
We hear from God through teaching of his word.
Community
We hear from each other through exercising our gifts.
Worship
God hears from us through spiritual worship.
Mission
People are prioritized over programs.
Grace
People are romanced regularly by the gospel.
Get Involved
Everyone plays. No one sits on the bench.
The Abbey is designed for full participation. You’re not a consumer here — you’re a contributor. Here’s how to get in.
Show Up on Sunday
Join us at noon. Simple worship, communion, and the Word. We sit around tables, not in rows — and we always share a meal.
Share Life in a Small Group
Discipleship is personal. Our Abbey groups gather in homes around meals, Scripture, and mission throughout North County.
Use Your Gifts — Out There
We don’t just want you doing church chores. We want you doing what’s been in your heart all along. Serve your city. Start something new. We’ll train you, just like Jesus trained the Twelve.
